A licensor may grant a licensee the sole right, or exclusive right, to exploit her work. If exclusive rights are granted, this means that no one, including the creator, can distribute the work without permission from the licensee. A creator can grant a licensee limited exclusive rights, such as the right to distribute the work over the Internet or in audio/visual format, but still retain other rights.
